Overview

The exchange layer of crypto has arrived!
Side Protocol – the first modular and omnichain exchange layer that offers dedicated infrastructure, tools, and applications for decentralized asset exchange.

Key Principles

Our guiding principle of architecture design places emphasis on four key attributes:

Scalability

The system is meticulously crafted to ensure easy deployment – with seamless and permissionless chain integration and asset listing.

Interoperability

By leveraging light-client-based interoperable protocols like zkIBC and IBC, we foster seamless and secure communication between chains. Moreover, the potential integration of additional interoperable protocols could extend the ecosystem's reach to include all L1s and L2s.

Decentralization

Empowering the distribution of liquidity in a decentralized manner, restoring asset sovereignty to users, all while maintaining a user-friendly experience.

Exchange

A commitment to minimalism and specialization in decentralized asset exchange, focusing on doing one thing exceedingly well.

Modular Architecture

Side Protocol embraces a modular design, meticulously tailored to cater to various needs within the asset exchange domain of the crypto space.
Firstly, the Openside Protocol lays a robust foundation by offering a scalable atomic swap solution, accessible to both EVM and Cosmos ecosystems. Notably, one of its implementations, the ICS100 standard, implemented the IBC Protocol, marking a pioneering stride in enabling seamless bridgeless cross-chain swaps. Openside is currently being employed to construct an innovative omnichain trading desk, which offers an NFT marketplace-like trading experience for custom OTC orders.
Secondly, the Mesh Liquidity protocol embodies the modular liquidity layer crucial for omnichain DeFi, establishing a borderless layer for blockchains to share and access liquidity akin to a social network. This initiative sets forth a superior liquidity layer, facilitating seamless asset exchange within or between diverse blockchains.
Thirdly, zkSide, by leveraging zk-rollup technologies, addresses the user experience by providing a structured infrastructure for decentralized central limited order book trading. This initiative significantly smoothens the transition from centralized to decentralized platforms for traders, bridging the familiarity gap while enhancing the trading experience.
Lastly, the SIDE Chain, an app-chain infrastructure, is specifically crafted for a distinct set of exchange applications. With the advent of permissionless deployment of smart contracts, it embodies the potential to evolve into a versatile ecosystem, catering to a myriad of applications.
