Your BTC balance consists of Bitcoin stored in different types of addresses within your Bitcoin wallet (Taproot, Legacy, Nested SegWit, Native SegWit).
Side Chain (the Side Protocol blockchain) is a fully Bitcoin-compatible chain that supports Taproot and Native SegWit address types. You can transact on Side Chain directly using your Bitcoin mainnet address.
Follow the instructions below to learn how to switch address types using extension wallets.
Select your BTC asset
Click “Set Default Address”
Choose the address type (Taproot or Native SegWit) that holds the balance you wish to use. Your BTC balance will update as you switch between address types.
Once selected, reconnect your wallet on Side’s UI to update your address type.
Go to "Settings" and click "Address Type"
Choose the address type (Taproot or Native SegWit) that holds the balance you wish to use. Your BTC balance will update as you switch between address types.
Once selected, reconnect your wallet on Side’s UI to update your address type.
Select your BTC asset.
In the top-right corner, click the icon and select Native SegWit as the default address type.
Note: Xverse Wallet only supports Native SegWit, while Side Chain supports both Native SegWit and Taproot. However, if you want to transfer native USDC between Side Chain and Noble, Xverse Wallet cannot be used.
